PlayPower
PlayPower, Inc., based in St. Louis, Missouri, is a fully integrated manufacturer of commercial playground and recreational equipment, including swings, water slides, jungle gyms, resilient surfacing materials for play areas and other play assemblies. Its customers include municipalities, schools, and local, county, and state parks. Liberty and management acquired privately–held Miracle Recreation Holding Company in October 1993. The Company has successfully completed several strategic acquisitions since the initial transaction including SoftPlay, LLC, a manufacturer of indoor play systems primarily for the quick serve food industry, nursery schools, and other indoor play environments, SpectraTurf, Inc. a manufacturer of resilient surfacing for outdoor play areas, and EZ Dock, Inc., a manufacturer of rotationally molded modular docks and docking units used in the marine industry. In August 2000, PlayPower acquired Hags Play AB, a manufacturer of playground equipment based in Sweden and is now the largest playground equipment manufacturer in the world. PlayPower was sold to a major U.S. private equity group in December 2002.
