RathGibson, Inc., with manufacturing operations in Janesville, Wisconsin and North Branch, New Jersey, is America's leading manufacturer of high–performance welded austenitic stainless steel and specialty alloy tubing. RathGibson tubing is chosen where strength, durability and resistance to heat and corrosion are crucial. Representative end uses occur in industries such as oil and gas production and exploration, power generation, food and dairy, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, petrochemicals and semiconductors. RathGibson is also an acknowledged leader in the development of new technologies, such as the pioneering of laser mills, electropolishing for applications in which "superfinishes" are required, and the development of a number of specialty alloys. Liberty and management acquired privately–held Rath Manufacturing in April 1995. Liberty subsequently backed the management team in the significant add on acquisition of privately-held Gibson Tube in November 1999. Since Liberty's involvement, RathGibson has invested heavily in state–of–the–art manufacturing facilities and has continued to expand its physical output and market share. The company was sold to a major U.S. private equity group in February 2006.
